Ethiopia Names First US Honorary Consul

The Embassy of Ethiopia in Washington, D.C. announced that, in April 2001, the US State Department officially approved the appointment of Gezahgen Kebede as Honorary Consul for the Embassy's first Honorary Consulate in the U.S. The new consulate, which will be located in Houston, Texas, will officially open in June 2001.

Ato Gezahgen Kebede, President and Co-founder of the Ethio-American Trade and Investment Council, is well known for his commitment to promoting Ethiopia, particularly to members of the U.S. business community, and for his dedication to strengthening U.S-Ethiopia relations. He is a longtime Houston resident and Ethio-American businessman. The new consulate will be located at 9301 Southwest Freeway, Suite 250, Houston, Texas 77071 and you may contact the Consulate by calling 713-271-7628.
