Favorable Tourism Atmosphere Created In Ethiopia: Commissioner

Addis Ababa, March 20, 2002 (ENA): Commissioner of tourism says favorable conditions have been created in Ethiopia to make its tourist attractions accessible to tourists coming from all corners of the world.

Speaking at the opening of a tourism exhibition in Berlin, Germany on Tuesday, Yusuf Abdulahi Suker said there were several historical and cultural tourist sites in Ethiopia.

The infrastructure, airports and hotels in various towns of the country have been improved so as to give efficient services to tourists, a fax message sent by the Ethiopian Embassy in Berlin quoted the commissioner as saying.

Visa issuance system has also been amended for tourists interested in paying visit to Ethiopia, Yusuf said.

He said Ethiopia attached due importance to popularizing its tourist attractions among Germans, as they are the major tourists who show high interest in visiting the country.

Representatives of 17 Ethiopian travel agencies and hotels are participating in the five-day exhibition, the Embassy said.
